Rogue Seal Row Bench

The Rogue Seal Row Bench is uniquely optimized for both dumbbell and barbell seal row movements (aka bench pulls), and can be ordered here with our own exclusive new Seal Row Bar—a 28.5mm cambered barbell that offers superior range of motion for this back-isolating exercise along with convenient rackability within the unit.

The bench itself is made in the USA from 3x3” and 2x3” 11-gauge steel with an MG Black finish and black hardware. The uprights are spaced 43” apart (same as our standard power racks) and include 1” holes with 2” spacing. At a height of 44.5”, the bench pad is slightly higher than some comparable seal row units, but this extra elevation, along with a convenient diamond-tread folding step attachment, allows athletes of any size to comfortably use the product.

All Seal Row Benches ship with a set of Monster 1" Sandwich J-Cups (MG Black) and a laser-cut, bolt-on ROGUE branding plate with a stainless steel backer. We’ve also included a UHMW plastic cover on the bottom of the spine to protect both the barbell and bench unit in the event that an athlete reaches full range of motion and hits the bar against the spine.

Because some assembly is required to set up the Seal Row Bench, the following tools will also be needed. These are NOT included with the order:

KEY FEATURES OF THE SEAL ROW BENCH & SEAL ROW BAR

Optimized for Seal Row Movement
1

Optimized for Seal Row Movement

The Seal Row, or Bench Pull, is an increasingly popular back isolation exercise in which the athlete lays their chest flat on a bench (parallel to the floor) with their arms suspended at the sides, and lifts using either dumbbells or a barbell. The support provided by the bench helps reduce injury risks and reliance on momentum, while the movement itself has proven very effective in activating the lats and smaller back muscles. Rather than setting up a makeshift seal row station with a standard bench, the Rogue Seal Row Bench allows athletes of any size to comfortably perform both dumbbell and barbell seal rows with a free range of motion and unique barbell rackability.

Quality Rogue Construction

Quality Rogue Construction

Each bench is manufactured in the USA from 3x3” and 2x3” 11-gauge steel with 1” holes/hardware and an MG Black finish. The bench height of 44.5” is made easily accessible to anyone via a fold-up / fold-down diamond-tread step plate, which can be attached using the included detent pin. All together, the unit weighs 270 LBS (with a standard pad) and creates a 53”x60” footprint, with the 43” space between uprights matching that of our standard power racks. Some assembly is required for set-up, and all orders ship with a set of Monster 1" Sandwich J-Cups (MG Black), a bolt-on ROGUE branding plate, and a protective UHMW plastic cover along the spine. Customers can choose between the following American-made pad options:

Premium Pad (47"L x 12"W x 2.5" Thick // 20 LBS) - Self-skinning, highly engineered polyurethane foam. Black w/ debossed Rogue branding. Includes a black substrate on the underside for a clean finished look that won’t deteriorate over time.

Optional Seal Row Bar

Optional Seal Row Bar

Available a la carte or as part of a package with the bench (selectable from the order menu), the Rogue Seal Row Bar is ideally suited for the seal row movement due to its cambered design. Built to the same standards as our Oly and powerlifting bushing bars, this specialized 40 LB barbell features a 28.5mm diameter shaft with a Black E-Coat finish and Bright Zinc sleeves with a loadable length of 13”. There is a 7" drop from the center of the sleeves down to the center of the cambered portion. This design gives users a greater range of motion not possible when performing seal rows with a standard bar.

Review is just for the bar.
The knurling on the bar is a bit too mild in my opinion. I’d like for this bar to have similar knurling to the Ohio Bar and the lat bars that Rogue makes. I’d also prefer a stainless option. The nature of this bar is that it’s used for pulling, so it doesn’t make sense to me that it’s as slick feeling as it is. I would also like to see the knurl run along the cambered area a bit because I’ve actually found that I really enjoy using this bar for heavy hammer curls. Despite the knurling being too mild and not having a stainless option, I have found this bar to be pretty darn versatile.

Just the bar!
I bought it for seal rows, but I love it for everything else I use it for! Spider curls, shrugs, incline/flatbench, and bent over rows. The knurling is mild and the coating makes it a bit slippery. If they came out with a stainless steel version I would upgrade in a heart beat. Still, I think this is an underrated specialty bar. It's the one I most recommend.

Seal Row Bench
Great seal row bench, solid as a rock. Looks like it belongs in an NFL training facility. One disappointment, Rogue came out with the upgraded pad a couple of months after I bought this, but will not sell me an upgraded pad separately to do a retrofit.

Great seal row!
I bought this for my home gym and it works great! I would recommend to get it with the premium textured pad as it feels way nicer and it is totally worth the extra money. Only complain would be that it would be nice to have a place to rest your head since you can put some strain on your neck when doing the exercise.

Very good, could be great with a few changes
I purchased this seal row bar to use for chest supported rows with the Bulldog pad. I don't have the space for the full bench. Overall, the bar is great. You can perform seal rows, chest supported rows (bulldog pad), or bent over standing barbell rows and get the extra stretch in the movement from the bar's camber. The packaging on the bar was actually pretty good by Rogue standards and arrived in great condition, which is a nice change of pace. As good as the bar is, there are a few small changes that could make it great! Firstly, let's talk about the coating. The only option with the seal row bar is e-coat. It's awful! E-coat isn't really a coating. It's a paint. Why would you want to put paint on a barbell? It creates a really slippery surface and dulls the knurl significantly, which is similar to the knurl on the Rogue curl bar. I'll be researching how to strip the e-coat off of my bar. Rogue should offer this in bare steel or stainless steel. Heck, even black oxide would be acceptable and it would keep the knurl sharp and grippy. Secondly, the knurl terminates a little too short from where the bar cambers. This means if you're holding the bar by the knurl, the width of the grip is a little too wide. So I have to hold partly onto the smooth part of the bar to have a good shoulder width grip. Not a deal breaker, but it would be nice if Rogue extended the knurl another 1/2-1 inch or so. The room is there to do so. But all in all, the bar performs well and I would still recommend it.

Excellent Seal Row Bench
I actually purchased the Seal Row Bench for my home gym. It’s extremely overbuilt for my needs. More of a heavy commercial product. Its definitely high quality and awesome. I purchased it with the cambered bar and it’s a beautiful piece also. Great knurl and finish. The bench itself offers the ability to execute an important movement to develop your upper back muscles. Excellent product.

Very nice
Now that I have had this bar for a few months, I use it for Seal Rows, Rows, Bench Press, Reverse Barbell Curls and Upright Rows. I had wanted this Seal Row bar for a long time after trying a similar bar, at a gym but didn't know what it was called. I would have bought it much earlier than most of my purchases on Rogue Fitness if I knew about it. Since the bar is available for purchase from Rogue, without having to buy the Seal Row Bench, perhaps Rogue could list it along with the other specialty barbells.
